On Thursday 12 March 2009, Didier and Yves joined forces at the Royal Museum of Central Africa to start with the digitization of the ossicles sampled from the from the numerous Paris types. A time-consuming process, but rewarding as the first results are already promising.
For instance, we found out that Holothuria (Selenkothuria) spinea Cherbonier, 1988 can not be upheld as a valid species. The species assemblage drawn by Cherbonnier (1988) is an artefact caused by contamination. We conclude that H. spinea is best considered a subjective synonym of Holothuria (Selenkothuria) bacilla Cherbonnier, 1988. One less to worry about
